The Wild Maa (Wilder Mann), a combined tug and push boat , was built in 2016 by the Groningen Shipyard on behalf of the Swiss Rhine ports . This ship can tow other ships or push barges. It is also equipped for other relief missions.

construction

The Wild Maa has a pointed bow with a sliding platform. It is driven by two 970 kW motors via reversing gear on two propellers with nozzles. A bow thruster is built in to aid maneuvering . The hydraulic rudder system has four rudder blades. Two John Deere generators are installed for power supply. There are two coupling winches and an anchor winch on the foredeck . A tow winch and hydraulic crane are installed aft. The wheelhouse can be raised 3.50 m. The crane has a maximum radius of 17 m and can lift 4800 kg. The ship is approved for towing and pushing services up to 6000 t of cargo on the Basel-Birsfelden route. All engines burn GTL diesel and are therefore environmentally friendly.

Origin of name

The Wild Maa is named after a heraldic shield holder . See also Vogel Gryff
