Nicola Armaroli
Nicola Armaroli (born September 2, 1966 in Bentivoglio ) is an Italian chemist whose fields of work are photochemistry and photophysics . In particular, he is concerned with materials and molecules for the use of solar energy and in luminous bodies .
Life
Armaroli studied chemistry at the University of Bologna and graduated in 1990 with a laureate . In 1994 he did his doctorate with Vincenzo Balzani . He then worked as a post-doctoral student at the Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University in the US state of Ohio and at the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche . There he started his own research project in 1997 and became a Senior Research Scientist in 2002 and finally Research Director in 2002. In 2001 he was awarded the Grammaticakis-Neumann Prize .
As of June 2017, he had written more than 190 publications in scientific journals , 7 books and several chapters in specialist books. His h-index at that time was 61, which makes him one of the leading Italian scientists.
In addition, since 2010 he has been chairman of the "Chemistry and Energy" working group of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences and is on the editorial board of several chemical journals, including Chemistry - A European Journal and Polyhedron . Since 2014 he has also been the director of SAPERE , the oldest scientific journal in Italy, founded in 1935 .
