Nicolai Pfeffer (born September 20, 1985 in Fulda ) is a German clarinetist and editor.

Life

Pfeffer began studying clarinet in 2004 at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , where he was accepted into Ralph Manno 's master class . In 2009 he completed his studies with the artistic maturity examination and two years later with the Master of Music solo and Chamber Music with distinction. Further stations of his training were a guest study at Indiana University Bloomington (USA) with Howard Klug as well as numerous international master and chamber music courses .

In addition to his artistic activity, Nicolai Pfeffer dedicates himself to the new edition of chamber music and solo compositions for his instrument. Critical editions as well as own arrangements have been published by G. Henle Verlag , Breitkopf & Härtel , Pfefferkorn Musikverlag Leipzig and in Edition Peters . He also works as an author and reviewer for the international journals The Clarinet, The American Viola Society and Rohrblatt. He was invited by the Universities of Cologne and Frankfurt am Main to lectures, lecture concerts and master classes.

From 2010 to 2013 he was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Cologne eV and during this time also artistic director of the Cologne music school Papageno. Since September 2013 he has been teaching clarinet at the Grünwald Music School (Munich), as a lecturer for clarinet and subject didactics at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and at the Hanover University of Music, Theater and Media .

In 2010, Pfeffer and the pianist Beatrix Klein released a CD with chamber music works by Robert Schumann , Alban Berg and Max Reger . He also participated in radio and television recordings (ARD / WDR / HR) as well as music education projects as part of the Echo-Klassik award-winning "Rhapsody in School" by Lars Vogt or the Barenboim-Said-Foundation.

Social Commitment

Pfeffer volunteers in the music education project Rhapsody in School initiated by Lars Vogt , which enables close encounters with classical music and musicians in general schools.
