Nicolas Gessner

Nicolas Gessner (born August 17, 1931 in Budapest ) is a Swiss film director .

Career

The son of a Swiss and a Hungarian studied Romance languages ​​in Zurich . He then worked as assistant director to Oskar Wäterlin, Leopold Lindtberg , Jean-Louis Barrault and in 1957 in Hollywood with Henry Koster at Mein Mann Gottfried .

Then Gessner worked as a director at the city theater in Lucerne . At this time he also began directing semi-documentary short films. Since 1965 he has made several full-length films with international cast. However, only the Canadian psychological thriller The Girl at the End of the Street with the young Jodie Foster had greater success , which earned him a nomination for the Saturn Award for best director .
