Nicolas Jacobi

Nicolas Jacobi (born April 13, 1987 in Mainz ) is a German hockey goalkeeper .

Jacobi played for the first time in 2002 in the youth division for the DHB ; In 2003 he won the title at the U16 European Championship in Barcelona, ​​and in 2008 he took third place with the German team at the U21 European Championship. He made his debut in the German national team on January 18, 2008 at the European Indoor Championships in Yekaterinburg, where the German team lost to the Russians in the final. In the following years he won the indoor world championship title in Poznan as well as the European Indoor Championships 2012 in Leipzig.

In field hockey, Jacobi has been a fixture in the German national team since the Champions Trophy 2011 . At the Olympic Games in London 2012 he was a substitute goalkeeper in the squad alongside Max Weinhold and won the gold medal. Jacobi has been number 1 in the German team since 2013. In the same year he won the European field hockey championship in Belgium with the German national team . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio 2016 , he won the bronze medal with the national team with a win against the Netherlands after a penalty shootout. On November 1, 2016, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for this success .

Jacobi began his hockey career at Rüsselsheimer RK, with which he became German indoor hockey champion in 2008 . In the same year he moved to Hamburg for Uhlenhorster HC , with whom he won the Euro Hockey League in 2010 and 2012 . In 2012 both the semi-final against the Belgian KHC Dragons and the final against the Dutch Amsterdam H&BC were decided in the penalty shootout, Jacobi held four penalties in both decisions and was named Most Valuable Player of the season.

From January 14 to February 10, 2013 Jacobi took part in the newly founded Hockey India League (HIL), where he reached the final with the Delhi Waveriders . At the public auction it was bought for a salary of USD 50,000.
