Nicolaus Degantz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nicolaus Degantz ( bl. Mid-15th century in Greifswald ) was a German physician.

Life

Nothing is known about Nicolaus Degantz's origins or education. His life data are also in the dark. Along with Vitalis Fleck and Johann Stallkäper, he was one of the first doctors to teach medicine at the University of Greifswald . In 1459 he was named in the Greifswald university annals as a licentiate in medicine. In 1459 he donated a well-known collection of medical literature to the university and is therefore one of the founders of the Greifswald University Library . Adolf Häckermann therefore suspected that he had been a member of the faculty since the university was founded in 1456.
