Nicolaus Hoykendorff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nicolaus (Nigkel) Hoykendorff (also Hoykindorff, Hoikendorf, Hokendorff ) was a Dresden councilor and mayor who was in office in the 14th and 15th centuries .

Hoykendorff belonged to a family that presumably came from the town of Höckendorf, although it remains unclear which Höckendorf came into question. There are three Höckendorf towns in the Dresden area: Höckendorf near Dippoldiswalde (1378: Houkendorf ), Höckendorf near Döbeln (1333: Hoykindorf ) and Höckendorf near Königsbrück (1309: Hoykendorf ). Henczil Hokindorf , who comes from the same family, was mentioned in documents as the mayor of Dresden as early as 1362, 1357 and 1389 .

Nigkel Hoykendorff is mentioned for the first time as council member and mayor of Dresden in the oldest surviving sovereign council confirmation document from January 11, 1399. In 1402 he reappeared as mayor in a finance bill, as well as in 1408 and 1410. In 1411 he was mentioned for the last time among the town councilors.
