Nicole Riner (born June 13, 1990 in Ennetbürgen ) is a former Swiss tennis player .

Career

Beginnings

Nicole Riner won her first international tennis tournament on the European Junior Tour 16 & U in 2004. She won in Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, among others. In summer 2005 she became Swiss champion for the fifth time. In the same year she won the ITF U18 tournament in Switzerland. A year later she was called up for the Fed Cup team in Switzerland. Against Japan, she played against a top 100 player for the first time and lost.

2006 to 2007

In summer 2006 she moved into Eric van Harpen's tennis academy . She was then accepted by Swiss Tennis into the National Competence Center. On September 25, 2006 she was listed for the first time in the WTA rankings. In autumn 2006 she received a wildcard for qualification for the Zurich Open . She achieved the biggest victory of her young career on May 20, 2007, when she won an ITF adult tournament for the first time. Exactly one month later she celebrated her first double success at an ITF tournament in Davos. In July 2007 she won the Summer Swiss Championships among the U-18 juniors in singles and doubles. After her victories at the Swiss championships, Riner won the bronze medal in singles as well as the silver medal in doubles in the top class of junior women at the EM in Bad Gastein. In Abu Dhabi she won a tournament in singles and in Porto she was victorious in doubles. In November 2007, two tournaments followed in the Philippines, which Nicole Riner both finished victoriously, despite having a bad cold. Through these successes she reached the top 500 on the world rankings. At the end of the year she was able to move into the finals of the Swiss championships and the New Year's Cup.

2008

At the $ 10,000 tournament in Stuttgart in 2008, Riner again made it into the final. With this success she made a leap among the 500 best in the world in the world rankings. In early March 2008, Riner was therefore qualified for the $ 50,000 tournament in New Delhi. In April 2008 she tried to get into the $ 25,000 tournaments. She pushed into the main field several times. She was also called up again for the Swiss Fed Cup team.
