The Internorga is an international trade fair for the catering and hotel industry in Hamburg and is aimed at the hotel, catering, bakeries and confectionery industries . The fair takes place annually in March on the Hamburg exhibition grounds. Around 1,300 exhibitors from Germany and abroad present their products in eleven exhibition halls and on the outdoor area. The organizer is Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.

It is classified by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) as an international trade fair for the catering and hotel industry in Germany. Admission takes place only after legitimation as a trade visitor.

history

The Internorga was first opened in 1921 as the “Northwest German Spring Fair for the entire needs of hotels, restaurants, cafés and large kitchens”. Albert Lubisch, the then editor of the Deutsche Gastwirtzeitung, organized the first internal organization in the Ernst-Merck-Halle of the zoological garden .

The fair did not take place during the Second World War . In 1950 it reported back with the support of the professional associations, the North German regional associations of Dehoga and bakers and confectioners, with 250 exhibitors on 15,000 m². In 1957 the fair was renamed Internorga. During the economic boom, the population was looking for new culinary worlds and modern furnishing trends. The fair reacts to this with a comprehensive range of new technology, entertainment electronics and machines that replace manual labor. 1987 the newly built exhibition halls enlarge the exhibition area. As a federal association, the CMA is now also represented at the trade fair with a performance show for the German agricultural sector.

The fair is currently taking place in eleven exhibition halls and on the open-air site with around 1,300 exhibitors from Germany and abroad.

Supporting program

During the Internorga, numerous gastro events will take place both on the exhibition grounds and in Hamburg. The supporting program and the exhibition formats at Internorga include the Pink Cube trend forum , the Newcomers Area , the Food Truck Village and the Craft Beer Arena . With the discussion forums in the Baker's Blue Box and the Back Stage , formats for the bakery and confectionery trade were also introduced. With the Grill & BBQ Court , the Internorga dedicated its own exhibition area to the topic of barbecuing for the first time in 2017.

Awards

Various awards are presented at the Internorga:

  • The Internorga Future Prize is aimed since 2011 to products, services or strategies for future compatibility and sustainability use. It is awarded in four categories by an independent jury chaired by scientist and sustainability expert Daniel Dahm .
  • The Internorga Gastro-Startup competition honors creative gastronomy concepts - with the support of Tim Mälzer and the Leaders Club Concepts GmbH .
  • The Next Chef Award is a competition for young chefs up to the age of 26 who have completed their professional training. Co-initiator is cook Johann Lafer .
