Ferdinand Leopold Freiherr von Andrian-Werburg (born September 20, 1835 in Vornbach , † April 10, 1914 in Nice ) was an Austrian geologist and anthropologist .

Andrian-Werburg was a grandson of Ferdinand Freiherr von Andrian-Werburg and son of Eduard Adolf Joseph Freiherr von Andrian-Werburg. On April 10, 1869, he married the wealthy Cäcilie Meyerbeer in Berlin , the daughter and heiress of the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer , who was born in Paris in 1839 and with whom he had the daughter Gabriele and the son Leopold Andrian . His grave is in the Altaussee cemetery (Austria).

Life

In 1870 he founded the Anthropological Society in Vienna , which he headed from 1882 to 1902. His scientific and ethnological research trips led him a. a. to Bosnia and Herzegovina . From 1879 he was a member of the Leopoldina Scholars' Academy . In 1894 he became an honorary member of the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory .
