The Nihon Densan Copal KK ( Jap. 日本電産コパル株式会社 , Nihon Densan Koparu Kabushiki-gaisha , Eng. Nidec Copal Corporation ), or Copal , is a Japanese manufacturer of optical, electronic and precision devices for the photographic industry . The company is the market leader in central locking , which is used by many camera manufacturers. Founded in 1949, the company has been part of Nihon Densan KK ( Nidec Corporation ) since 1998 .

In addition to the central locking system, the company has made decisive improvements to the flip watch and mini-labs.

Copal has production facilities in Thailand , Malaysia , the Philippines and Vietnam .
