history

Nidikeltesauuua is already mentioned in the early 8th century under Duke Hugibert , when the nobleman Sigiberth handed over six goods to the Church of St. Stephan in Passau . In the 13th century the Counts of Kraiburg and Ortenburg owned a manor in the Villa Nidergoltsawe , which they donated to the Raitenhaslach monastery in 1259 .

Around 1400 a not insignificant pilgrimage developed in Niedergottsau. In 1516 a benefit was founded. In 1690 the Scapular Brotherhood was founded here , a community whose central theme is the veneration of Mary. It won numerous members in Niedergottsau. Solemn services were held in the church, especially on the three golden Saturdays, for which Pastor Michael Frischholz (1695–1700) obtained an indulgence , which was confirmed by the Pope in 1707, 1729 and 1793. Due to an order of December 14, 1801, the celebration of the three golden Saturdays was canceled.

In 1855 the village consisted of 17 houses including a school and the branch church. In 1922 the Niedergottsau branch was established. The old school now serves as a community center.
