Niemberger Group

In the prehistory of Central Germany , the Niemberger group is an archaeological group that settled in the Ostsaal area during the early migration period (from 375–450 AD) .

distribution

The Niemberger Group is recognizable from around 375 onwards in the middle and lower Saale , mostly east of the river from Weißenfels via Merseburg to the middle Elbe . In a south-easterly direction it extends into the area of Torgau . Its focus is in the Köthen area and northeast of Halle . Simultaneous neighbors of the Niemberger group were the late Haßleben group in the area west of the Saale , the Burger group in the Magdeburg area and east of Magdeburg , while the Zethlinger group left the Altmark during the first half of the fifth century .
