Nierembergia calycina is a plant type from the type of the white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Nierembergia calycina is a prostrate plant with ascending branches that reach a height of 30 cm. The leaves are broadly ovate to almost circular, they are pointed towards the front. They become 13 to 28 (rarely only 10) mm long and 6 to 19 (rarely only 3) mm wide. The short petioles become 2 to 3 mm long.
The flowers are on 2 to 2.3 mm long peduncles . The calyx is 10 to 14 mm long and covered with egg-shaped lobes 3 to 6 mm long and 4 to 4.5 mm wide. The crown has a 19 to 28 mm diameter coronet, the corolla tube is 35 to 70 mm long. There are three short and two long stamens with large anthers. The stigma is enclosed in a crescent shape by the larger stamens to just below the anthers.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The species occurs in the grasslands of Argentina and Uruguay .
