The shrub and white cup ( Nierembergia scoparia ) is a plant from the genus of white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
features
The shrub and white mug is a semi-shrub reached, the plant height of 20 to 50 centimeters. The stem is erect or ascending. The sheets are linear to lanceolate and less than 3.5 millimeters wide. The flowers have a diameter of 2.5 to 3 centimeters, are lavender to purple in color and are found in clusters on the upper stem nodes. The flower stalks are 1 to 2 millimeters long.
Flowering time is from June to September.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
Occurrence
The shrub white cup occurs from southern Brazil to Argentina in forests, bushes and on the edges of forests.
use
The shrub white cup is used as an ornamental plant in summer borders and as a pot plant. It is also cultivated as an annual . This species has been in culture since the 19th century. There are several varieties with different flower colors and multi-colored shapes.
