Night Head Genesis is a 2006 anime television series that retells the story from the movie Night Head . The series was adapted as a manga in 2007 .
action
The two brothers Naoya and Naoto Kirihara have supernatural abilities. For fear of these abilities, their parents give them to a research center as children. There they grow up unhappy until after 15 years they manage to escape. But now the brothers have visions of an outbreak of epidemic that could destroy humanity. They are also being hunted by the government and a large corporation who want to use their skills.
Characters
- Naoto Kirihara
- Naoto is the older of the two brothers and has telekinetic skills. He can also communicate telepathically with his brother. He is confident, quick-tempered and protects his younger brother Naoya.
- Naoya Kirihara
- Naoya is the six years younger brother of Naoto. He can clairvoyant, communicate telepathically, and heal. He often has visions when he touches people or objects, which puts a lot of psychological strain on him.
- Kyōjirō Mikuriya
- Kyōjirō Mikuriya had brought the Kirihara brothers to the research center, which is why he is hated by Naoto. But Kyōjirō feels responsible for the two over time and helps them, even after their escape.
- Shoko Futami
- Shōko is a high school student with exceptional skills. Over time, like a spirit, it sheds its physicality and can travel through space and time. She has often disappeared for days for her family and learns a lot about what is happening in the world.
Production and publication
The series was produced in 2006 under the direction of Yoshio Takeuchi at the Bee Media studio. The storyboard based on the scenario by George Iida was written by Masahiko Murata. You Higuri did the character design and Hiroshi Kato and Toshihiro Kohama were the art directors. BS Japan showed the anime from July 29 to December 31, 2006 in Japan. This was followed by broadcasts on Animax and GyaO.

Shigeru Umebayashi composed the music for the anime . The songs Kotoba ( 言葉 ) by Under Graph and Nemutte Ita Kimochi, Nemutte Ita Kokoro by Aya Kamiki were used for the end credits.
Manga
A manga adaptation of the anime by George Iida and You Higuri was published in Japan in May 2007 in Magazine Z by Kodansha . A total of three volumes were published. Del Rey publishes the volumes in the USA and Carlsen Comics has published three volumes in German since December 2010.
