Nippon Keidanren ( Japanese 日本 経 団 連 ), short for Nippon Keizai Dantai Rengōkai ( 日本 経 済 団 体 連 合 会 , German "Association of Japanese Business Organizations"), is the most important Japanese business association. He has an important voice in the Japanese government because he represents the common interests of all business associations in large-scale industry and the like. a. Representing the government through statements on foreign (economic) policy issues. Keidanren is seen as a kind of track two ( s ) for Japanese foreign trade policy.

Keidanren was founded in 1946 and is the most influential of the three largest business associations in Japan. The other two are the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Nissho and the association of young entrepreneurs for the economy Keizai Doyukai ( en ).

Keidanren has a total of 1,563 members, made up of 1,376 large companies, 109 national industry associations and 47 regional business associations (one per prefecture) (as of May 31, 2018). The association develops its ideas in 65 committees, which cover all relevant economic policy topics. Each committee is chaired by a senior economist. For example, the Committee on Europe is headed by Yoshio Sato , President of Sumitomo Life Insurance , and Hitoshi Ochi, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation .

In terms of importance, Keidanren is comparable to the Federation of German Industries (BDI) or, in Switzerland, to Economiesuisse .

Since May 2018, the Keidanren has been headed by the Chairman of the Hitachi Board of Directors , Mr. Hiroaki Nakanishi .
