Nikita Petrovich Stupak ( Russian: Никита Петрович Ступак ; born May 3, 1987 ) is a Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Stupak started in the Eastern Europe Cup for the first time in November 2008 in Werschina Tjoi . He finished 12th in the sprint. He ran his first World Cup race in January 2009 in Rybinsk , which he finished in 46th place in the sprint. At his second start in the World Cup in February 2011 in Rybinsk, he scored his first World Cup points with 29th place in the sprint. In the 2014/15 season he was in the top ten five times in the Eastern Europe Cup. In February 2015 in Rybinsk he achieved his first podium finish with second place in the sprint and at the end of the season he achieved seventh place in the overall standings. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he clinched his first victory in the Eastern Europe Cup in Werschina Tjoi over 10 km. This was followed by another victory in Minsk over 10 km classic and a second place in the sprint in Syktywkar . In the World Cup he came in five participations, once with the 22nd place in the 50 km mass start race in Oslo in the points. He finished the season in third place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup. In the following season he came on the podium four times in the Eastern Europe Cup, including a victory in Minsk over 15 km classic and thus achieved second place in the overall standings. In March 2017 he finished second in the sprint at the Russian championships in Khanty-Mansiysk .
