Niklas Fernando Nygård Castro (born January 8, 1996 in Oslo ) is a Chilean - Norwegian football player . The striker is under contract with Aalesunds FK . He has both Norwegian and Chilean citizenship and belongs to the extended circle of the Chilean national team
Career
society
During his childhood and youth, Niklas Castro, whose father is from Chile and whose mother is Norwegian, played for IL Manglerud Star from the Oslo district of Manglerud, before moving to the youth of Vålerenga Oslo . On April 9, 2016, the 20-year-old made his debut in the top Norwegian league in a 2-1 away game against Stabæk Fotball . During the 2016 season, Castro made nine appearances for the Oslo team. For the 2017 season he moved to the second division Kongsvinger IL . There Niklas Castro fought for a regular place and scored twelve goals in 25 games in his first season. National team
On October 3, 2019, Niklas Castro was nominated by Chile's national coach Reinaldo Rueda for the squad for the test matches against Colombia and Guinea on Spanish soil. Since he did not yet have Chilean citizenship at that time, he was referred to as a "special guest". Waldemar Coutts, Ambassador of Chile to Norway, confirmed Castro's naturalization in February 2020.
