Nikolai Mikhailovich Maximow (Admiral)
Nikolai Michailowitsch Maximow ( Russian: Николай Михайлович Максимов ; born May 15, 1956 in Bolhrad ) is a Russian admiral a. D. From 2007 to 2011 he was the commander of the Russian Northern Fleet .
Life
Maximov graduated from the Nakhimov Naval War School in Leningrad in 1973, and the Leningrad Komsomol Submarine Officers' College in 1978 . After attending officer courses in the Russian naval fleet in 1986, he graduated from the NG Kuznetsov Naval War Academy in 1995 with a "distinction" and in 2000 from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces with a gold medal.
Maximov served in the Northern Fleet as the commander of the missile combat section (GA-2) on a diesel submarine , as the first officer and as the commander of a submarine . Subsequently, he was deputy commander of the 31st submarine division, commander of this division, deputy commander of the Atlantic submarine squadron (2000–2001), chief of staff of the 3rd submarine flotilla (2001–2002), commander of the 12th nuclear submarine. Boat Squadron (2002–2005) and Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet (2005–2007).
After the appointment of the commander of the northern fleet, Admiral Vysotsky, as commander in chief of the Russian Navy, Maximov took over his duties on September 12, 2007. On November 19, 2007, he was officially confirmed in this position as commander of the Northern Fleet.
He was relieved of his post on March 30, 2011, and was appointed Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of the Western Military District.
He was released into retirement on October 29, 2012. From November 8, 2012 to May 17, 2016 Maximov was head of the Naval War Academy. In December 2013 he was elected chairman of the International Association of Social Organizations of Naval War Fleet Veterans and Submariners. From May 2016 he was appointed head of the scientific research institute for shipbuilding and armament of the naval war fleet.
Maximow is married and has two sons.
