Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Bogdanowski ( Russian: Николай Васильевич Богдановский ; born January 17, 1957 in the village of Predgorny, Biysk district , Altai region ) is a Soviet and Russian military . He was the commander of the armed forces of the Central Military District from 2012 to 2014. From June 2014, the Colonel General was appointed 1st Deputy General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Life

Bogdanowski attended the Suvorov Military School in Sverdlovsk from 1972 to 1974 and the General Higher Commanding School in Moscow from 1974 to 1978 . He began his career as a commander of a reconnaissance platoon and then served as a company commander, chief of staff of a motor rifle battalion, from 1978 to 1984 as commander of a tank battalion of the southern group of the Soviet Army , chief of staff of a fortified area and commander of a motor rifle regiment. After graduating from the Frunze Military Academy (1984–1987) he became chief of staff of a motor gun division (1987–1994). From 1994 to 1996 he attended the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and then found himself as head of the 392nd Pacific Training Center for Mechanized Infantry Specialists , Chief of Staff and Commander of the 35th Army (1996-2006) and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of the Far East Military District (June 2006 – January 2008) Use.

The Chief of Staff of the Russian Land Forces and 1st Deputy Commander in Chief of the Land Forces (January 2008 - March 2009) was promoted to Lieutenant General on December 12, 2004. From March 24, 2009 to January 9, 2011, he commanded the armed forces of the Leningrad Military District . Bogdanowski was promoted to Colonel General on December 13, 2012 and, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation on December 24, 2012, released from his duties as Deputy Commander in Chief of the Land Forces and in charge of training issues. He assumed command of the troops of the Central Military District until June 12, 2014, and then became 1st Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Bogdanowski was placed on the Canadian sanctions list in September 2014 in connection with the Ukraine crisis .
