Nikolaos Platon (born January 8, 1909 in Kefalonia , † March 28, 1992 in Athens ) was a Greek archaeologist and the excavator of the Minoan palace of Kato Zakros on Crete . He studied at the University of Athens . One of his great achievements in the field of archeology was the establishment of a second relative chronology of the Minoan culture . In contrast to Evans' chronological system, which is based on the stratigraphy in Knossos , his chronology, drawn up in 1958, is based exclusively on the construction and destruction phases of the Minoan palaces, divided into pre (pre), old (proto) and new (Neo-) and post-palace period (palatikum).
