Nikolaus Weis

Nikolaus Weis (born April 24, 1905 in Leiwen , † May 14, 1971 in Trier ) was a German CDU politician .

Life

After attending primary school, Weis trained as a shoemaker in his parents' company. After passing the journeyman's examination, he worked in several companies. In 1928 he took over the St. Urbanshof, a winery and handicraft business, from his parents. In 1938 he finally made the master craftsman's examination in the shoe trade. Later he was mainly involved in viticulture. So he founded a second company in 1947. This vine refinement company was only active in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine-growing region . He also campaigned politically for the interests of winegrowers and participated in land consolidation and company relocations.

politics

Weis joined the CDU in 1945 after being close to the Center Party before 1933 . A year after joining the party, he moved into the local council and the official representation. In 1950 he became a member of the Rhineland-Nassau Chamber of Agriculture , a year later he moved into the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate , to which he belonged until his death.

Honors

Weis was appointed economics councilor in 1970.
