Nikolaus von Burgsdorff

Nikolaus von Burgsdorff (* 1375 ; † after 1443) was Elect of Brandenburg from 1415 to 1417 . He belonged to the Premonstratensian Order .

Life

Nikolaus von Burgsdorff was born in 1375.

It was first mentioned in a document in 1403. Before being elected Bishop of Brandenburg, he was canon and pastor of Neustadt , now a district of Brandenburg. After Friedrich von Grafeneck did not accept the office of Bishop of Brandenburg, Nikolaus von Burgsdorff was elected as the new Bishop of Brandenburg by the cathedral chapter in 1415 . However, he never received confirmation from the Pope . Antipope John XXIII. instead appointed Johann von Waldow Bishop of Brandenburg at the Council of Constance in 1415 . However, he did not receive the ordination as Bishop of Brandenburg until 1417, since Nikolaus von Burgdorff was able to hold himself as an elect . He was last mentioned in a document as Canon of Magdeburg from 1441 to 1443.
