Nikolaus von Klitzke (also Klytzke or Klitzing ) († March 19, 1419 ) was provost of the Brandenburg cathedral , canon and vicar general .

Live and act

Nikolaus von Klitzke was first canon in Brandenburg. It is also passed down that he was vicar general and official of the Berlin provost and the Brandenburg bishop . He was first mentioned in a document as provost on July 8, 1413. He donated the Corpus Christi altar in the south aisle of the cathedral, the inscription of which also indicates July 8, 1413, the date of his first notarization as provost. After the death of Bishop Henning von Bredow in 1414, von Klitzke was vicar of the cathedral chapter .

After his death, Nikolaus von Klitzke was buried in the south aisle directly in front of the Corpus Christi altar donated by him. The grave slab with incised drawings has been preserved and was later placed in the eastern cloister . It shows Nikolaus von Klitzke in the typical representation of a provost with a book and breeding rod .
