Nicholas of Lebus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nicholas was probably Bishop of Lebus between 1320 and 1326.

Life

Nikolaus was cantor at the Holy Cross Church in Breslau . After the death of Bishop Friedrich I , the cathedral chapter could not agree on a successor. One part pleaded for Nicholas, another part for the cathedral dean Stephan . The cathedral chapter of the Archdiocese of Gniezno then decided in favor of Stephan. Nicholas sued this decision at the papal court in Avignon .

After the Ascanian margraves died out in Brandenburg , Nikolaus was possibly in office from 1320, because Stephan stayed in Avignon frequently during this time and was not mentioned in the Lubusz diocese.

From 1326, Stephan II was again officially in office.
