Winfried Schich (born January 20, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German historian .

Winfried Schich was born in 1974 at the Free University of Berlin with a thesis on the subject of Würzburg in the Middle Ages . PhD studies on the relationship between topography and population structure . After his habilitation in 1979 (Medieval History) at the Free University of Berlin, he taught from 1982 to 1992 as a professor for Medieval History at the University of Kassel . From the end of 1992 until his retirement in 2003 he was professor of regional history at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Schich is an external member of the Polish Academy of Learning (PAU) in Krakow and has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse since 1999 .

Schichs research focuses on the Brandenburg and comparative country's history, the history of Germania Slavica , urban and settlement history and the history of the Cistercian .
