The Nikolauskirche is located in the district of Köckritz of the municipality of Harth-Pöllnitz in the district of Greiz in Thuringia . It belongs to the Weida parish in the Gera parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The church in the districts of Köckeritz-Köfeln was first mentioned in a document in 1333. In the time before the Reformation , the citizens of the places were looked after by the Mildenfurth monastery . From 1527 the chapel was named a parish church . From 1740 to 1748 the former chapel of the estate was built in its current form as a church .

In 1809 the spire was repaired .

On July 22nd, 1910, a storm hit the village. The roof of the property was blown against the church tower with such force that it broke at the belfry and fell into the depths. The rebuilding could be financed through the state fire fund.

On July 6, 1965, the church tower was re-roofed and the weather vane was replaced by a cross .

On November 15, 1970, the bells were consecrated . A new bell for the Schilling and Sons foundry was inaugurated. After two years of construction in the interior, the church was re-inaugurated on October 3rd, 1976 for Thanksgiving. Floor and ceiling heating was installed later. With the modernization also the handicapped accessible construction took place. The renovation of the exterior began in 1998.
