history

PA Fisker and HM Nielsen founded the Nilfisk company in 1906. The first vacuum cleaner, named C1 , hit the market in 1910. In 1954, the company had sold over a million Nilfisk vacuum cleaners and launched the world's first scrubber-dryer.

Nilfisk acquired the Danish company Gerni, which was founded in 1962, in 1988 and was taken over by the NKT Group in 1989 . The company introduced the world's first ride-on model in 1990 and four years later took over the Advance Machine Company (USA) founded in 1925 and the German floor cleaning specialist Schwamborn Baumaschinen GmbH . The group of companies changed its name to Nilfisk-Advance in 1998 . In the same year Euroclean / Kent was bought out of the Electrolux group.

In 1999 Nilfisk took over 70% of the vacuum cleaner manufacturer CFM-REITEK and acquired the remaining 30% in 2000. The takeover of Ecologica and ALTO took place in 2004. Since the takeover of ALTO, the traditional technology brand Wap has been an integral part of the products of the Bellenberg cleaning specialist Nilfisk-ALTO . Further takeovers took place in 2006 with US Products , in 2007 with the Viper Group and in 2008 with HydraMaster .

In 2011, Nilfisk took over the Danish company Egholm Maskiner A / S, Jungo Voirie, Hecker & Brian. With the acquisition of the manufacturer of street sweeping machines and equipment carriers for applications such as winter service or green space maintenance , the cleaning specialist expanded its portfolio in the field of exterior cleaning. Since 2015, with the deletion of the addition Advance , the company has officially been trading as Nilfisk A / S again .

In October 2017, Nilfisk was spun off from NKT Holding and is now listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Naming

The company name is made up of several parts: Nilfisk was created when the founder PA Fisker accepted HM Nielsen into the company as a partner. Since the company Nielsen & Fisker did not fit the Teletex form, the company was quickly changed to Nilfisk. In order to keep the name Advance known in the United States even after the takeover of the American Advance Machine Company , he finally joined the company in 1998.
