Nils Svenwall

Nils Svenwall (born October 7, 1918 in Borås , Sweden ; † April 5, 2005 in Lidingö , Sweden) was a Swedish film and costume designer

Live and act

Svenwall received his first artistic training in the late 1930s and then came into film. In 1940 he became assistant to the chief designer Arne Åkermark , on its side Sven Wall in 1942 when Gustaf Molanders Drama Rid i natt! debuted as co-chief architect. In the following years, Svenwall was mostly solely responsible for creating the film structures for an abundance of productions, including those for some early productions by Ingmar Bergman towards the end of the 1940s and beginning of the 1950s .

Other well-known directors with whom Nils Svenwall worked were Carl Theodor Dreyer , Alf Sjöberg and Arne Mattsson . In the mid-1950s, Svenwall temporarily left the cinema and worked in other artistic fields. In later years, the production designer also took care of the decorative painting for several film and television productions. At the age of 65, Nils Svenwall retired after working on well over 100 films.
