Career

Nina Khanna was born in Basel in 1975 and studied medicine at the Universities of Freiburg and Basel, which she completed in 2001. For her dissertation in 2002 she researched the - at that time - still new HIV therapies. In 2012, Nina Khanna took over as deputy head of the Infection Biology research laboratory at Basel University Hospital, which has been its head since 2013. For her research project on the immune defense of immunosuppressed people against fungal infections , she was funded in 2012 with the Ambizione research grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation.

She is also a research group leader in the Department of Clinical Research and in the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel, as well as a senior physician at the Infectious Disease and Hospital Hygiene Clinic at the University Hospital Basel. From 2015 she was in charge of the consultation service and outpatient infectious disease and expanded the collaboration with the clinic for hematology in the field of transplant infectious diseases.
