Nina Leonidovna Kogan

Nina Leonidovna Kogan (Russian: Нина Леонидовна Коган, scientific transliteration Nina Leonidovna Kogan, born April 25, 1954 ) is a Russian classical pianist.

Career

Nina Kogan was born to the violinists, Leonid Kogan and Jelisaweta Gilels , the sister of the pianist Emil Gilels . The Russian conductor Pawel Kogan is her brother. She took her first piano lessons at the age of six. Then she attended the Moscow Central School for Gifted Children. She later studied with Jakow Flier at the Moscow Conservatory .

Nina Kogan gave concerts from the age of 12. From the age of 13 until 1982, the year her father died, she went on concert tours around the world as a classical duo. She has worked as a recitalist, orchestral soloist and chamber musician around the world.

From 1991 to 1992 and from 2003 to 2004 she was professor at Connecticut College in New London , USA. Since 1997 Kogan has been a piano professor at the Moscow Conservatory. She has given master classes.

Nina Kogan has released records for the Melodiya, Triton, Philips, Chant du Monde, Brilliant Classics and Orfeo labels, among others.
