N-FORM in Primera (P12)

The N-FORM system was offered in two different versions. Vehicles without a reversing camera were equipped with a slimmed-down version and a smaller LC display , while better-equipped models with a reversing camera were given a higher-quality system with a 5.8- inch color display, slightly different key assignments and a joystick. In order to be able to display maps better, vehicles with a navigation system have a 7 inch display.

Components

The basic components of the N-FORM concept are radio, CD player, on-board computer and air conditioning / automatic system. The system could be supplemented depending on the equipment and a. with a reversing camera, a navigation system, a device for a mobile phone and a tire pressure monitor. In Japan, the N-FORM in the Primera could also be upgraded with an integrated toll box.

history

A first forerunner of the Nissan operating concept was to be found in 2000 in the vehicle study "Fusion", from which the third generation of the Primera later emerged. N-FORM came to Germany ready for series production in 2002 in the then relaunched Primera, a short time later N-FORM was also submitted for the model revisions of the Almera and Almera Tino series. In 2004, the graphic layout in the Primera was fundamentally revised and upgraded, at the same time the LC display in the Primera was completely eliminated . In Almera and Almera Tino, however, everything remained untouched. With the discontinuation of Almera and Almera Tino in 2006 and the Primera in 2007, the use of the N-FORM concept at Nissan also ended .

criticism

As with other vehicle operating concepts, the intuitive operation requires time and getting used to. This is primarily a problem for older people or drivers with a limited understanding of technology, but the N-FORM system is more manageable than other systems because it offers comparatively fewer sub-functions. For cost reasons, N-FORM was not part of the basic equipment in Almera and Almera Tino.
