Nitschja (Russian Ничья ; often in English Nichya ) was from Russia originating singer-songwriter duo consisting of Elena Kiper and Oleg Borschtschewski .

history

Jelena Kiper was part of the team around Iwan Schapovalov , the manager of the vocal duo tATu Kiper, limited himself to writing the lyrics to Ja soschla s uma and Nas ne dogonjat , which later both became number one hits in Russia and Eastern Europe. After Shapowalow's break in 2001, Kiper saw her only chance to continue being artistically active in creating her own singing project.

Kiper had previously written one last song for tATu, which was entitled Ja Ne Glotaju . After Kiper met Oleg Borschtschewski in November 2001, they completed the song and recorded it together. It was now called Nitschja (Russian Ничья ; German Nobody ). This title was later chosen as the name for the duo.

Kiper and Borschtschewski quickly rose to fame through the Internet and topped the Russian download charts with their first releases. Kiper had been a TV presenter for the Russian broadcaster NTW in the 1990s and had also gained some popularity through her work for tATu in Russia. In September 2003 the song was finally released as a CD single. The Russian subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment , with which Nitschja were under contract, also released their second single Natschinai Menja (Russian: Начинай меня ; German start with me ). This time the song was written by Borschtschewski. The duo's first two releases were not very successful in Russia, which is why Nitschja tried to reach the charts in the West with their songs. The first single Nichya was translated and published in English with the title Pain to Choose in May 2004 in Japan , but did not reach the hit parade there.

After releasing their debut album NAWSJEGDA! (Russian НАВСЕГДА!; German Forever! ) on August 30, 2004 two more singles were released, Nikomu, Nikogda (Russian Никому, Никогда ; German For nobody, never ) and Nawsjegda . The album was also released in Poland on October 11, 2004 , but did not reach the national album charts. Likewise, the single Nikomu, Nikogda , released in Poland on October 1, 2004 , failed to enter the Polish charts, which meant that the attempt to gain a foothold on the Polish music market had failed. In Russia, a total of ten singles were released from the album between 2003 and 2006, three of which entered the top 100 of the Russian charts.

Following the success of the debut album, the duo signed a deal with Sony BMG. Two more albums should be released in the next ten years. In September 2006 the new song Umiraet zlo was released as the soundtrack for the film Glubina . A second album under the title Pora was due to be released in 2007, as well as some songs by NAWSJEGDA! as well as some new songs. But the duo split up before the announced release date. On January 10, 2007, four demo recordings were uploaded to the official Myspace channel.
