Nittingen is an agricultural district of Oettingen in Bavaria .

The village has 189 inhabitants (data from the last census 2007) and is located in the Nördlinger Ries , 2.5 km southwest of Oettingen.

Nittingen was first mentioned in a document on January 13, 1307. Finds suggest that today's local area was already populated in the Neolithic Age.

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Oettingen together with its districts of Bettendorf and Seehof. The municipality of Nittingen had a coat of arms.

The Catholic Marienkapelle from the beginning of the 18th century and the field chapel on the road to Oettingen, which dates from the second half of the 19th century, are worth seeing.

The cultivation of potatoes , which are sold in the area, is economically decisive .

Every year there is a festival to commemorate the foundation. Tenor horn groups and musicians perform with medieval instruments. Only warm potato specialties are offered at the evening banquet.
