Breitenlohe is a hamlet in the area of the city of Oettingen in Bavaria .
Until 1972, Breitenlohe belonged to the municipality of Erlbach . Erlbach was incorporated into Oettingen in 1972 together with the Niederhofen community .
The landmark of the place is the chapel built in its present form in 1710 in honor of the Sorrowful Mother of God . A predecessor building that already existed at the time of the Thirty Years War was dedicated to the martyr Afra von Augsburg . The chapel has an octagonal floor plan. Inside is composed of the 16th century originated wooden sculpture of a Pietà . The chapel was last restored in 1979 and the original roof shape was restored.
