Erlbach is a district of the city of Oettingen in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria .

geography

The village is located a little south of the Oettinger Forest and is about four kilometers away from Oettingen. The Augraben , a right tributary of the Wörnitz , flows through it. The Kuhweihergraben flows into the village, a little further south the Klingenfeldgraben.

The district road DON 4 runs past the village in the west and leads to the state road St 2214 and to Oettingen. A local road branches off to the east to the state road St 2221 .

history

An Alemannic women's grave discovered on the neighboring Spielberg proves a settlement around 300 AD. The finds are exhibited in the local history museum in Oettingen. The early expansion of the place gave rise to the Obererlbach (now Erlbach) and Niedererlbach (now Niederhofen ) settlements .

The village renovation was completed in 1987, and the fire station was completed in 2002 .

Erlbach was one of the smallest communities in the Ries. In 1972 it was incorporated into Oettingen along with its district of Breitenlohe as part of the municipal reform. The formerly independent municipality had a coat of arms.

The Protestant community is affiliated with the parish office in Ehingen . The village is still predominantly agricultural.
