Nivardo Tassini

Nivardo Tassini SOCist (born June 4, 1775 in Pesaro , † September 16, 1852 in Rome ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman, Cistercian , abbot and abbot general .

life and work

Luigi Tassini entered the Cistercian monastery Chiaravalle d'Ancona and took the religious name Nivardo (after Nivard of Clairvaux ). He studied at the monastery of Santa Maria in Carinis in Rome and was abbot of the abbey of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Foce, Amelia (Umbria) from 1825 to 1830 , then abbot of the monastery of San Bernardo alle Terme in Rome, and from 1840 to 1850 abbot of the monastery Santa Croce in Gerusalemme . He was General Procurator (1833-1835) and (as successor to Sisto Benigni ) Abbot General of the Cistercians (1835-1845, successor: Livio Fabretti ).
