Nizar (2019)

Nizar is a German stand-up comedian . He runs a podcast with Shayan Garcia that appears on Spotify , Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

Career

Nizar was born in Bonn to Tunisian parents. Originally he wanted to pursue a singing career. Since he was also enthusiastic about stand-up comedy from the United States since his youth, those around him recommended that he take this path himself. Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey in particular would have inspired his later style. The series Alf and The Prince of Bel-Air as well as the German entertainers Otto Waalkes and Stefan Raab had, according to their own statement, " rounded off his humor cosmos ". His own entry into comedy took place in his early 30s. He “ breathe, smell, eat and just live comedy ”, but it took longer to take on this role for himself. In September 2015, a friend recorded him telling jokes. They published the video under the title Questions the world doesn't need! first on Facebook and later on YouTube, where it generated over 500,000 views.

He has been a stand-up comedian since 2016. In addition, since March 2016, Nizar has regularly published his videos, titled as a joke mix , on his channel. He uses the YouTube videos primarily as a “ promo tool ” for his live performances. At the end of 2018, Nizar appeared alongside Mike Krüger , Janine Kunze and Pierre M. Krause in Hugo Egon Balder's Sat.1 show Richtig funny . In June 2019, he expanded his field of activity to include a joint podcast with YouTuber Shayan Garcia. Most of the episodes published on the Spotify and Apple Podcasts streaming services were also published on YouTube. At the beginning of 2020 he had over 350,000 subscribers on Facebook and over 180,000 on YouTube. He also started the Comedy Clinch format with Olli Gimber , which was later continued as the live program Punchline - The Ultimate Joke Battle . From February 5, 2020, Nizar will present his first stage program under the title Witz Kommando . The comedy tour is to lead through over 30 cities.

controversy

In November 2019, Nizar attracted widespread attention after an argument with a car rental company. On the way back from a comedy event in Sonneberg , he and his friend, Amjad, needed a replacement car because of a breakdown. The rental company Sixt then referred them to a subcontractor in Bad Blankenburg . But there the employees refused to hand over the car. They also insulted the comedians with racist comments. Amjad captured the encounter in a video that he later published on Instagram. In response to the statements made by the car rental company, Sixt publicly apologized to Nizar and ended its cooperation with the Thuringian subcontractor.
