No Te Va Gustar is a Uruguayan rock band .

history

No Te Va Gustar (translated: “You won't like it” ) were founded in 1994. In the beginning they were a classically cast rock'n'roll trio. In 1997 the concept of the group changed. Wind instruments and percussion were built in as well as new rhythms: reggae , candombe , murga , salsa and ska . Exactly this fusion of different influences should become one of the characteristic features of the NTVG sound. In the meantime, they went platinum twice in Uruguay and played at festivals in front of 20,000 spectators. In Uruguay in particular, a very present scene of alternative rock music has formed since the mid-1990s, which is also represented by bands such as La Vela Puerca or Abuela Coca .

At the end of 2006 there was a change of members: Mateo Moreno (bass, also involved in the songwriting) and Pablo Abdala (drums) left the band. Keyboardist Marcel Curuchet died on July 14, 2012 in New York, where the band was touring a concert, as a result of a motorcycle accident.
