Overseas records
Übersee Records is a German independent label based in Hanover. It was established in 2002.
Label history
In 2001, musicians from the Hanoverian band Wisecräcker brought several dozen CDs with them from a tour through Mexico and California that mixed Latin American music with ska , punk , rock and reggae ( mestizo music ). In order to increase their level of awareness in Germany and Europe, four musician friends decided to found a label to represent these bands outside of America. You license the albums in part from major labels . In the meantime, the program has also been expanded to include bands from Germany, France, New Zealand and Belgium.
Label philosophy
One of the main goals of the label is regular live performances by the represented artists in Europe. The bands are selected according to the personal taste of the employees. The label doesn't see itself as political, but the bands almost without exception deal with social problems in Latin America.
