At the age of 18 he turned to reggae music and joined the band El Congo . He was a member of this for over a decade until 2005 and composed some successful songs for them such as "El reggae de mi barrio" and "La Sed". After he had first contacts with the Uruguayan group No Te Va Gustar (NTVG) in 2000 , he finally became their keyboardist and was partly active there as a composer. He also belonged to the band Mongo Roots and also drew for Mateo MorenosResponsible for the album "Auto" as a composer. Curuchet had an accident with his Kawasaki motorcycle, which was rented on the same day, on the way to a concert in New York, where he was supposed to perform with the Argentine group Los Auténticos Decadentes at the BB King's Club in Manhattan. Two days later, at the age of 40, he died in the Jersey City Medical Center as a result of the traffic accident. On the occasion of his death, the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol ordered a minute's silence before the international match of the Uruguayan Olympic selection against the Panama team.
