Noefefan Bridge

The Noefefan Bridge ( tetum Ponte Noefefan ) is a two-lane road bridge in the East Timorese exclave Oe-Cusse Ambeno ( Suco Lifau , administrative office Pante Macassar ).

The bridge is located less than 500 meters from the mouth of the Tonos , the largest river in Oe-Cusse Ambeno. The village of Kolam Cina is located directly on the northeastern bank , while Lifau is a little further to the southwest. Dried up in the dry season, the Tono carries so much water in the rainy season from November to April that it cannot be crossed without a bridge. The overland traffic of people and goods to the western areas of Oe-Cusse Ambeno from the municipal capital Pante Macassar was therefore not possible during this time until the bridge was inaugurated on June 10, 2017 after two years of construction. It is 360 meters long, 20 meters high and has three arches. The construction costs amounted to 17.5 million US dollars .
