The Nokia 7650 from the Finnish manufacturer Nokia was one of the first multimedia cell phones with an integrated digital camera . It was the first mobile phone of the 2.5 GSM generation based on Symbian OS . The 7650 was introduced in the third quarter of 2002 and, according to the manufacturer, cost 560 euros.

Furnishing

The camera lens is located on the back of the device and is exposed when the user pulls the keyboard out from under the display. The camera phone has already integrated data transmission with Bluetooth , but only in version 1.0, which is why the 7650 does not work with Bluetooth headsets .

Since there is no memory expansion, only a very limited number of photos can be stored. If the memory is empty (approximately 3.6 megabytes), the 7650 cannot store more than 100 photos at VGA resolution. The integrated digital camera takes photos with a maximum of 640 × 480 pixels with more than 16 million colors (24 bit color depth). However, there is no built-in zoom or flash on the device and pictures with low brightness have a lot of color noise. Distortion when shooting from a short distance or moving objects also occurs.

At 154 grams, the device is heavy compared to other cell phones. It measures 114 × 56 × 26 millimeters with the keyboard inserted. The color display has a resolution of 176 × 208 pixels with 4096 colors. Compared to current devices, the 7650 has a low battery life with around two hours of talk time.

Because of its features, advertised as an electronic organizer , the cell phone was one of the top models among cellular devices when it was launched. The address book can store a variety of different information about each contact. The number of entries is only limited by the memory. Up to 500 contacts can be saved.

The 7650 is equipped with MMS and e-mail clients , organizer and SyncML , HSCSD and GPRS , Bluetooth and infrared support. Java and EPOC programs and polyphonic ringtones in midi format as well as music files in .wav and .amr format can be played on the smartphone .
