Nomada emarginata is a bee from the family of Apidae . The species looksvery similar to Nomada flavopicta .

features

The bees have a body length of 9 to 12 millimeters (females) or 9 to 11 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and have yellow markings. The tergites are black, the first three have two yellow spots each, the fourth and fifth have yellow cross bars. The labrum is yellow and has strong teeth. The third antenna segment is the same length as the fourth. The antenna whip is dark up to the end. The pronotum is strongly notched in the middle. The scutellum has two yellow spots. The hips ( coxes ) of the front legs have triangular teeth at the end. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are rounded at the end and are not thorny and hairless. The males look similar to the females.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed in southern and central Europe, east to the Caucasus. The animals fly from mid-May to early September. The species parasitizes Melitta haemorrhoidalis and probably Andrena denticulata as well .
