Nomada fulvicornis is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees have a body length of 10 to 13 millimeters (females) or 9 to 12 millimeters (males). The head of the female is black and has red and yellow markings. The feelers are red. The thorax is drawn in black and yellow. The tergites are basal and black at the rear edge, they have a yellow band on the disc. This is interrupted in the middle on the first tergite and often also on the second and third. The yellow spots on the first tergite are often red-edged, only rarely are the spots completely red. The labrum is red or yellow and has a tooth on the front half. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The scutellum has two yellow spots. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have several long, black small thorns. The head and thorax of the males are black and have yellow markings. The tergites are black and have yellow bands. On the first tergites, these bands are often narrowly interrupted in the middle. The labrum is yellow and has a tooth in front of the middle. The third antennae is much shorter than the fourth, and it is less long than it is wide. The antennae are black from the scourge to the sixth member. The label is also black or has small yellow spots. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs have no hair fringes at the bottom. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are densely hairy at the end and have several long, small thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern, central and southern northern Europe. The animals fly from early March to early August. On the south side of the Alps there is rarely a second generation per year. They parasitize Andrena bimaculata , Andrena pilipes , Andrena thoracica and Andrena tibialis , maybe Andrena agilissima as well .
