Nomada gransassoi is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees have a body length of 8 to 10 millimeters (females) or 7 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the female are black with red markings. The tergites are red with yellow spots on the sides. The labrum is also red and has a small tooth in the middle. The mandibles have an additional tooth. The third antenna segment is shorter than the fourth, the last antenna segment is clearly lighter at the top than the others. The scutellum is red. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end, have brown bristle hair and three or four very small black thorns. The head of the males is black and has yellow markings. The thorax is also black and has red spots in some individuals. The tergites are red, but basal black. There are also yellow spots on the second, third and sixth. The labrum is yellow. As with the females, the mandibles are provided with an additional tooth and the third antennae is much shorter than the fourth.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is proven in from the Abruzzo in Italy. The animals fly from early June to late September. Which hosts they parasitize is unknown.
