Nomada melathoracica is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees have a body length of 12 to 13 millimeters (females) or 11 to 13 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and have yellow markings. The tergites are black and have yellow bands. On the first and second tergite, these are often narrowly interrupted in the middle. The third antenna segment is the same length as the fifth and much shorter than the fourth. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are drawn out to a short point at the end and have reddish, small thorns. The males are similar to the females, their third antennae is as long as it is wide.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is widespread in southern and in some places also in southern Central Europe. The animals fly from mid-April to early July. They parasitize Andrena aglissima and probably Andrena afrensis as well .
