Nomada minuscula is a bee from the family of Apidae . The species is considered by other authors to be a small form of Nomada sheppardana . However, since the morphological differences are constant and the host range is different, Amiet et al. (2007) granted species status.
features
The bees are 4 to 5 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are black and have red markings. The tergites are black and are partially lightened red or yellow-brown. The labrum has shiny spaces between the punctiform structures. Behind the leading edge it has a ridge that is serrated. The probes are identical except for the last yellowish member obscured. The third link is the same length as the fourth. The mesopleurs and the propodeum are densely covered with silvery white hair fringes. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end, have bristle hair and a number of very small thorns. The males are similar to the females, but have little red in their pattern. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are provided with a hair fringe at the bottom.
Occurrence and way of life
The distribution of the species has not been adequately researched. The animals fly in two generations from early May to early August. They mainly parasitize Lasioglossum lucidulum , but also Lasioglossum glabriusculum , Lasioglossum politum and Lasioglossum semilucens .
