features

The bees have a body length of 7 to 9 millimeters (females) or 6 to 9 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and drawn in red. The first and second tergite are red, the first is often basal, the third and fourth also black on the disk. The tergites two to five are often provided with white-yellow spots. The labrum is red and has a finely toothed ridge on the front edge. The third antennae is the same length as the fourth. The heavily humped scutellum has two red spots and is irregularly structured. The neck next to the midfield is not dotted. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have three to four small thorns that are not standing together. The males look similar to the females, but have a yellow labrum. Your third antennae is the same length as the fourth. The slightly humped shield has one or two yellow to yellow-red spots and large spaces between the point-like structures. The neck next to the middle field is shiny and, unlike the females, irregularly dotted. The rails of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have several short thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in Central and Northern Europe. The animals fly from mid-May to mid-August. They parasitize Andrena tarsata and probably also Andrena coitana , Andrena fuscipes and Andrena denticulata .
